An Unexpected Freezer Outage Can Be Very Costly

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:39 am

Did you have any power problems at your house? Did you fridge break overnight? Do you have qualms about food that was in the freezer?

Relax ,in that case you can use some easy tips for handling food safely.

If the food has warmed at all, whether thawed completely or just to room temperature, discard it immediately. Discard it if it has been out of the refrigerator for over two hours.

If the food has thawed out, but is still cold, it is safest to cook it right away. Once cooked, food can be refrigerated for later or eaten right away.

You can freeze the food again if ice crystals have formed on the surface. If you don’t have a freezer to put it in, make sure to get some dry ice and put it in a cooler. The food will need to be cooked, because it won’t last as long as with a normal freezer.

If you notice any food with even a little freezer burn, you need to throw it away.

Storms and accidents will always cause power outages; however, you can use preparation to be ready for whatever happens.
If your existing fridge or freezer has seen better days, the best advice that anyone can give you is you invest in a new one. Consider a large American Style fridge freezer when you have enough space. Any kitchen will be much better by having this. This site contains a wide range of American made fridges and freezers, aiming to serve you better.
