Stevie Favorite
Intelius, Inc. is the winner of the 2006 Stevie Award for Best New Company, given by the American Business Awards in New York City. The award was significant, given that the Stevie is the equivalent of an Oscar in the business world. (In its April 27, 2005 issue, the New York Post likened the Stevies to “the business world’s own Oscars.”)
However, that was not the end of it. In June 2007, the American Business Awards yet again nominated Intelius for another award, this time for Most Innovative Company. Albeit Intellius lost, it was no easy feat trumping over 2,000 companies to the award, whose finalists were meticulously picked from all over the US.
What’s clear is that Intelius, founded by Naveen Jain in 2003, is still raking in considerable revenues. Blessed with more than eight million customers, it now sits among the fastest-growing private companies in North America. In fact, from its inception in January 2003 to five years later in 2008, the company has enjoyed a 1576% increase in revenues. Intelius, which is based in Bellevue, Washington, is one of the state’s top 150 private companies (Washington CEO Magazine, 2006) and the Puget Sound area’s fastest-growing private companies (Puget Sound Business Journal, 2008). Above all, it is among the 500 private companies with the fastest-growing revenues in the entire United States (Inc. Magazine, 2008).
Consumers and companies alike flock to Intellius for information reports about other people, which can take the forms of background checks, tenancy screens, date checks, employee screens, criminal checks, email address lookups, social net lookups, reverse cell phone caller IDs, death checks, marriage checks, and property reviews. Intelius sources information from the databases of public and government agencies, even at federal levels.
