Macrolane Injections Safe and Effective?
While looking up information on Macrolane injections I came across articles that supported the use of this form of breast augmentation and those that thought it was a waste of money due to poor results. The pros of this form of augmentation is that you are awake during the procedure, you literally see the results before the operation is done and are allowed to say if the result is what you want or if more needs to be done, there is little pain and that this type of augmentation lasts for up to 12-14 months. The cons that I came across stated that the result was a lumpy feeling because the gel used did not absorb fluid so it did not stay in the gel shaped form, the claim that the result would last from 12-14 months was incorrect with some people losing the results they got inside of three months, and some people feel that more research should be done because of the lack of results promised. To really get an understanding of this new technology one must know what is being injected into the breast tissue. Macrolane injection is simply hyaluronic acid which is a substance that is already in the body. This acid is injected into the body under local anesthetic via a small cut made in the crease of the breast. The person receiving the injection is awake and according to one doctor can actually see the breast fill right before their eyes. However there appears to be a problem with this new treatment for breast augmentation. One problem is that once this substance is injected there is no guarantee that the results will last for the reported time of 12-14 months. Also there is the issue of having the substance turn lumpy which according to one source happens only rarely. One other very important thing that people take into consideration is the cost. With it costing upward of 2500 pounds for the initial treatment and then another 1400 pounds for the top up many people cannot afford to do this new treatment. Whatever product you decide to use be it Macrolane injections or silicone implants one thing is clear before this technology is okayed in the U.S. it will have to go through the FDA and duplicate the results it got in Switzerland otherwise it will never make it to the U.S. consumer.
