Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:31 pm

Be sure to get adequate sleep at night. One reason for puffy eyes is that you’re just not getting enough sleep, or the quality of the sleep you’re getting is inadequate. Puffiness under the eyes is a commonplace symptom of sleep deprivation.

Not enough water. Many people who are disposed to puffy eyes are normally dehydrated. If you suffer from puffy eyes, you probably need to drink more water. Aim for one gallon a day or at least 3 quarts. Drink only water or herbal tea. Sweet, flavored or fizzy drinks aren’t truly hydrating. If you’re a coffee drinker or drink alcohol every day, you will need an additional glass of water for every glass of wine or cup of coffee.

Change your sleeping position. It’s not strange to have puffy eyes in the morning. One explanation for this could be that if you are laying down in a flat position and then stand up to a vertical position, the fluid that was residing under your eyes is suddenly being drawn down by gravitation. This swelling should subside before long. One way you can prevent morning puffy eyes, is to raise your head while you sleep so that the fluid under your eyes is not as speedily forced down as you get up.

Decrease your salt consumption. A high intake of salt may be causing your body to retain fluid. Try reducing your intake of salt and see if that represses your puffy eyes.

You might need a diuretic, such as the juice of cranberry or cabbage. These vegetables are natural diuretics, which will help you release some surplus fluid in your body. Other natural diuretics include the herbs uva ursi and golden rod.

Get extra exercise. Exercise improves circulation, which will assist your body to move fluid through your body, instead of letting it collect.
